Codefresh was founded with container orchestration in mind, making it the first CI/CD platform to see the value of containers and Kubernetes. Since then, Kubernetes has become the de facto environment to run cloud-native applications.

Why we invested

When Codefresh was founded, two important shifts were occurring in the market: 

  • Companies were transitioning to using cloud-native systems, which could support significantly more software applications at a fraction of the cost; and 
  • Software was becoming mission critical to organisations’ operations and competitive advantage, driving the need for increasingly frequent updates to business-critical applications. 

Today, the average enterprise has approximately 500 custom applications and will develop and deploy approximately 40 new applications in a year. This poses an unprecedented challenge for developer teams. 

Development teams have moved away from monolith systems built in-house and into microservices where updates and maintenance of applications happen continuously instead of having full blown and disruptive release periods. 

Codefresh is designed to offer efficient performance for the build and release of software and applications. The company’s platform assists businesses of all sizes to automate their workflow and streamline the lifecycle of their digital products.
